Where Teal Free is the better choice
A daily allowance that never runs out for the month. 500 MB every day is about 15 GB a month, and a heavy week in the first days does not leave you with nothing until the 1st.
Two devices on one free account.
Networks that filter VPN traffic, without touching settings. Teal picks the route by itself, obfuscates the traffic and moves to another road when one stalls. Windscribe can do similar things, but you choose the protocol yourself.
Android TV with a free plan, from Google Play, on the same account as your phone.
Where Windscribe Free is the better choice
Several free countries you can choose from. Teal Free has one.
Big days. 10 GB can be spent in one evening of video if you want; Teal’s 500 MB cannot.
A long track record: Windscribe is independently owned, its apps are open source and its no-logs policy has been tested in court, by its own account. It also offers more protocols to switch between by hand.
Where they are the same
No ads, no card for the free plan, paid for by subscribers. Both have a kill switch and protocols for networks that block VPNs. Both tell you the free limits up front.
Neither makes you anonymous or protects an account you sign into.
