What we keep and what we don’t
Last updated 4 October 2026
A VPN asks for your trust. This page says exactly what Teal VPN keeps, what it never keeps, and shows the result of the automatic check that runs on every Teal server each day. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Checked automatically
- Last full check of all servers: loading…
- Server logs kept in memory only, never on disk: loading…
- Requests for user data from authorities: loading…
- Times user data was handed over: loading…
These numbers are filled in by our own systems. They are not an outside audit. When we have an independent audit, its report will be published on this page.
What we keep
- The sign-in your account belongs to: Google, Apple, or an email address.
- Your device’s public key, its model label, the platform and the app version. The private key is created on your device and never sent to us.
- How much data your account has used today. It is a number, not a record of what was transferred or where it went.
- Your plan (Free or Pro). For Pro, the confirmation from Google Play or the App Store that a purchase is valid. We never see your card.
- On the Free plan only: a scrambled device code, so that one phone gets one free plan. It cannot be turned back into a device identifier.
What we never keep
- The websites, apps or addresses you connect to.
- The contents of your traffic.
- Your DNS lookups.
- A record of the IP address you connect from.
One thing every VPN must do: while a device is registered on a server, that server holds the device’s most recent address in its memory, because it needs it to send your traffic back to you. It is never written to disk, never copied to our database, and it is gone when the device is removed or the server restarts.
How the servers are built
- Each VPN server keeps its system log in memory only, for one hour. There is no log folder on disk.
- The firewall on each server accepts the VPN and nothing else.
- Every server is tested each day by an automatic check, from the outside and from inside the tunnel. If a server fails the check, we are alerted straight away.
- A new server is added to the app only after it passes the same check.
What this page is not
It is our own statement and our own automatic check. It is not an independent audit, and we do not present it as one. If you find something on this page that does not match how Teal VPN behaves, tell us: [email protected]. To report a security problem, see security.txt.
